The La Fonda Chair by Charles & Ray Eames is one of the more characteristic designs in the design duo's oeuvre.
This particular example was produced by Herman Miller and dates from circa 1970. The chair combines the organically shaped fiberglass shell with the distinctive La Fonda base, a construction that makes the design both light and sculptural.
The original design was developed for La Fonda Del Sol, the restaurant in the Time & Life Building in New York. The chair subsequently grew into one of the recognizable Eames designs of this period.
What makes this version special is the combination of the original production period and the associated material appearance. The design is distinctive, yet remains natural in various interiors thanks to the clean lines and balanced proportions.
