Product description
Original cast iron wall relief 'Die Ruhende' from 1959 by the German sculptor Kurt Lehmann (1905–2000), executed by the German foundry Buderus. The relief depicts a highly stylized resting figure, composed of sober, flowing, and angular forms characteristic of Lehmann's post-war visual language. The work features his monogram on the bottom left and the year 1959 cast into the work on the top right. On the reverse side is the round Buderus foundry mark with an anchor and the year 1731. A simple hanging device is also present there. Kurt Lehmann is one of the well-known German sculptors of the post-war period and participated, among others, in the first documenta in Kassel in 1955. The cast iron has a beautiful dark reddish-brown patina with local oxidation, fitting for the material and age. Not restored or refinished. Dimensions: 15.5 cm wide, 9 cm high, and approximately 0.5 cm thick.
