Characterful Dutch armchair designed by Koene Oberman for Gelderland, featuring a slender metal frame and loose cushions in brown patinated leather. The design has a particularly open and architectural construction. The slim steel frame almost exclusively forms the contour of the chair, while the generous leather seat and back cushions provide comfort. The visible metal bars at the back support the back cushion and emphasize the functional character of the design.
The armchair is in neat original vintage condition. The metal frame is sturdy and shows slight superficial oxidation and patina consistent with its age. The brown leather has been well preserved and has developed a beautiful, natural patina through use, with color variations and creasing that enhance the character of the original leather. A distinct example of Dutch post-war design combining a minimalist construction with warm, natural materials.
Dimensions are as follows: height 81 cm, width 63 cm, depth 78 cm. Seat height 38 cm.
Carefully selected vintage design. Professionally restored where necessary, with respect for the original design, craftsmanship, and materials used.
