This exquisite gem of mid-century Scandinavian design was originally conceived as a decanter, primarily for serving the traditional Akvavit (or aquavit), served ice-cold at important celebrations.
It is known as the "Kluk Kluk" or "Klukflaske" bottle because of the sound the air makes as it enters and exits, which has become its signature.
Designed by Jacob E. Bang in 1928, it was initially launched by Holmegaard in its clear version, with the smoked grey color being introduced in the late 1950s.
Today, it is a coveted piece of Danish style, ideal for interior design due to its striking presence and originality.
Key Details:
- Hand-blown glass in a sophisticated smoke gray color
- Four-column pinched shape to fit the hand's anatomy, ensuring a perfect ergonomic grip and preventing the bottle from slipping when pouring (as it was used for chilled liqueurs and the outer glass could become damp from condensation)
- Original, flawless, frosted glass stopper for a perfect, airtight fit. It has a minimal, unfrosted line on the inner base, typical of the hand-blowing and cutting process of the period (a shear mark or air filament from separating the hot glass), which does not affect its appearance or airtightness.
