Kees Verkade studied at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and made a name for himself, primarily as a sculptor. He is now considered one of the most famous sculptors in the Netherlands. In addition to his sculptures, Kees Verkade also creates colorful gouaches and silkscreen prints. His sculptures are characterized by figurative representations of people in motion. Sculptures of playing children, athletes, dancers, and lovers are characteristic of his oeuvre. Verkade's sculptures have received international recognition and are held in numerous corporate and private collections, as well as in various museums at home and abroad. His works are also regularly auctioned at major international auction houses such as Christie's and Sotheby's.
