About Kees van Valderen: Ceramics workshop De Beemd was founded during the war years 1940-1945 by the candle factory "Firma Gebroeders Bolsius" in Schijndel, due to the stagnation of raw materials and the threat of unemployment. De Beemd existed until around 1950. Kees (C.J.A.) van Valderen ('s-Hertogenbosch, September 10, 1916 - March 8, 1990, Leidschendam) - eldest son of the artist Frans van Valderen - worked in 's-Hertogenbosch until the mid-1950s, among other things, as a cartoonist.
