Beautiful small Kamini vase. Although 'Kamini' is the Greek word for a ceramic kiln, here it specifically refers to the Greek design studio Kamini, based in Kallithea (Athens). In the 1970s, this studio produced characterful, hand-thrown stoneware (studio pottery) with a rustic flair. Their vases and bowls were known for their experimental glaze effects and bold, often Mediterranean or abstract patterns. The fact that these vases combine a sleek, flattened shape with expressive patterns allowed them to compete excellently with the major Western European studios at the time.
