This beautiful glass pendant chandelier, model 'Tulipan', was designed by J.T. Kalmar and produced in Vienna, Austria, in the late 1960s to early 1970s. The name 'Tulipan' was inspired by the tulip-shaped, hand-blown pieces of bubble glass that form the centerpiece of the design. Each of the 70 glass elements is handmade, making each piece unique. Suspended by thin chains from a white enameled ceiling plate, the glasses are arranged in a striking spherical formation that exudes timeless elegance. The chandelier is documented in Kalmar's 1972 catalog, confirming its status as an iconic Mid - Century design. With an adjustable overall height of approximately 140 cm, the chains can be shortened or lengthened to suit the space. Although the chandelier is overall in beautiful condition, there are two small cracks in two glass sections, a subtle imperfection that does not detract from its overall grandeur.
