This sumptuous pair of wall sconces embodies the quintessence of mid-century European glassmaking. Designed by the great Austrian master Julius Theodor Kalmar and produced by the renowned Franken KG, each piece stands out as a monumental luminous sculpture. The thick, hand-cast slab of solid crystal follows an elegant, organic curve. Its bold relief perfectly simulates the nobility of wild bark or a frozen waterfall. Thanks to a myriad of micro-bubbles of air trapped within the crystal, the light undergoes a magical prismatic refraction. The sconces thus diffuse a warm, enveloping, and spectacular light, ideal for adorning a wall with an exceptional aura. The original structure testifies to a high level of artistry and craftsmanship: the patinated wooden backplate is solidly coupled to a nickel-plated steel frame, all secured by visible knurled screws in solid brass.
