Specs: Height: 48cm shade: dia 29cm Base: dia 19cm Socket: E27 (also suitable for LED bulb - not included) Bio: Christian Dell was born in 1893 in Germany in the small town of Offenbach am Main near Frankfurt. After completing his studies and working as a silversmith in Dresden, he went to the “Großherzoglich-Sächsische Kunstgewerbeschule” in Weimar. Now generally known as the Saxon College of Arts and Crafts, where he met the Belgian architects Henry van de Velde and Victor Horta. Later regarded as one of the most important founders of Art Nouveau. In 1926, he moved to Frankfurt, where he became director of the art academy's metal workshop and also "master of forms." It was here that Christian began designing lamps rather than forging silver. His breakthrough came when he started designing lamps for the lamp factory Gebr. Kaiser & Co. in Neheim Hüsten. In 1936, the Model 6631 Luxus table lamp appeared for the first time and quickly grew into the undisputed flagship model of the KAISER idell series. The term "idell" is a reference to the word "Idea" and his surname "Dell." The Kaiser Idell brand and the production of lamps are now owned by the Danish design company Fritz Hansen. In 1948, after the Second World War, Christian Dell opened a jewelry store in Wiesbaden, where he primarily manufactured silverware until 1955. He died in Wiesbaden in 1974. Rare model in "above average" condition. Contact me before ordering to confirm availability. Photos & text ©copyright Have a look at my other vintage designer lamps.
