Sculptural art glass vase by Josef Hospodka for the traditional Chřibská glassworks in what was then Czechoslovakia, manufactured in the 1960s. The heavy, hand-blown vase has a characteristic organic shape with widely raised, wavy wings and an exceptional color composition of cobalt blue, delicate pink, and clear glass. The color layers are surrounded by a strong transparent clear glass casing, creating intense optical transitions depending on the incidence of light: The pink base transitions upwards into cool blue, while the clear outer parts additionally emphasize the curved silhouette. The thick-walled design gives the object a distinctly massive and sculptural presence despite its flowing lines. A characteristic example of post-war Bohemian studio glass and an expressive collector's item that works excellently as a standalone glass object even without flowers.
