This Danish dining set from the 1960s consists of a round teak table and matching Juliane chairs, designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Vejle Stole- og Møbelfabrik in Denmark. The set is a strong representative of Scandinavian modernism, with a clear focus on proportion, functionality, and warm materials.
The table is crafted from solid teak and stands on a sculptural central base with four elegantly flared legs. Originally designed as an extendable table, it still features its original mechanism. The accompanying extension leaf is missing, so the table is now offered as a fixed round dining table. This is common with this type of table and does not affect its stability or visual quality.
The Juliane chairs are recognizable by their open backrest with a central vertical strut, rounded lines, and slender tapered legs. The teak frames are meticulously finished and demonstrate the craftsmanship so characteristic of Johannes Andersen's work. The seats were recently reupholstered in a neutral fabric that beautifully complements the set's character. One chair was professionally structurally restored and is now sturdy and perfectly usable again.
The set shows minor signs of wear commensurate with its age, yet appears harmonious and well-preserved. A complete dining set with character and flair, suitable for lovers of vintage Scandinavian design and easily combined with a contemporary interior.
