This Danish dining set from the 1960s consists of a round teak table and matching Juliane chairs, designed by Johannes Andersen and produced by Vejle Stole- og Møbelfabrik in Denmark. A beautiful representative of Scandinavian modernism, with a focus on proportion, functionality, and warm materials.
The table is crafted from teak and stands on a sculptural central base with four flared legs. Originally designed as an extendable table, it still features the original mechanism. However, the accompanying extension leaf is missing, so the table is now offered as a fixed round dining table. This is a common feature of this type of table and does not affect its appearance or stability.
The Juliane chairs are recognizable by their open backrest with a central vertical strut, rounded shapes, and slender tapered legs. The teak frames are meticulously finished and showcase the craftsmanship characteristic of Johannes Andersen. The seats were recently reupholstered in a neutral fabric that perfectly complements the character of the set. One chair requires structural repair; this has been included in the price.
The set shows normal signs of wear consistent with its age, but retains a strong and balanced appearance. Ideal as a complete dining set for an interior with a penchant for vintage and Scandinavian design, it also looks great in a more contemporary setting.
