Trombone II, aluminum floor lamp by Jo Hammerborg for Fog & Mørup in 1966 - a beautiful Danish midcentury floor lamp in very good vintage condition.
A sleekly designed floor lamp with a square gray lacquered metal base, from which emerge two aluminum lacquered stems, connected by a "handle" (adjustable in height), giving the lamp the trombone look to which the name refers. An adjustable, aluminum-lacquered shade hangs from the top between the two stems. The cylindrical shade features Jo Hammerborg's signature peepholes at the top and bottom, and the white inner coating with a gray lower band, as seen in most of his lighting designs. The top of the shade features a white on/off switch.
The peepholes diffuse a subtle light into the surrounding space, while the cylindrical shade directs light in a concentrated beam - the shade is adjustable up and down (about 45 degrees in one direction and 180 degrees in the other) to meet your needs .
The glossy aluminum finish and sleek and extremely attractive shape add a super stylish touch to any home - maybe it's just perfect to accent your sitting area or perhaps to highlight a large mirror in the hallway - wherever you would place this piece , it will be an exceptional addition.
In 1966, Jo Hammerborg designed the TROMBONE lamps for Fog & Mørup - a table lamp, Trombone I and a reading lamp (floor lamp), TROMBONE II. Both versions were finished in aluminum lacquer or brass lacquer.
Entirely original, including the original 2.15 m (7' 0.6") plastic cord with Euro plug - which can easily be replaced with your specific plug. The on/off switch is located on the top of the hood. Tested and fully functional. Cleaned, labeled and packed in a protective bag.
