Product description
Antique bentwood chair by Jacob & Josef Kohn.
Design is Thonet no.18, but execution is clearly richer. The curved forms of the back are more pronounced, more powerful and the wood is slimmer.
Truly a particularly elegant chair, an eye-catcher.
The construction is excellent, sturdy and robust. Wear, but that comes with age, contributing to the already beautiful patina.
Kohn stamp and seal under the seat. The style of the paper seal indicates that the chair was produced between 1886 and 1921.
J.J. Kohn was one of Thonet's main competitors and would merge with Thonet in the 1920s.
I cleaned and inspected the chair and polished it with beeswax for a nice shine. Where necessary, screws were replaced. The chair is ready for use!
The chair is in Groningen. You are welcome to come by. I can also ship the chair very quickly and safely with PostNL.
