Teatro Balconi was completed in 1851 and expanded in 1933 with three-storey balconies due to lack of space. In 1978, part of the roof collapsed during heavy snowfall, since then the doors have remained closed. The theater is in a far state of decomposition and dangerous to visit. The entrance is also an adventurous height course full of obstacles.
Traveling and photographing with a fascination for abandoned architecture and faded glory, Jef Peeters seeks and explores lost and forgotten places to be rediscovered. He captures the soul and forgotten stories and turns them into narrative images.
