Jean (Johannes-)Paul Vroom (The Hague 1922 – Amsterdam 2006) studied painting at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague from 1938 to 1939 and then left for Paris. There he attended the École Estienne from 1944 to 1946, where he mainly trained in graphic techniques. In the course of his life he would make many engravings, etchings, lithographs and serigraphs. In 1955 he returned to the Netherlands, where he taught at the Free Academy of George Lampe in The Hague. Partly influenced by Rein Draaier, he often chose the landscape as his subject: fields, plants, leaves, but also the urban landscape, for example in the US or this beautiful homage to Manet. His collaboration with Hans van Manen led to many costume and set designs for the Nederlands Danstheater and the National Ballet, as well as portraits of dancers such as Rachel Beaujean and Rudolf Nurejev. The print is in excellent condition. lithograph 61 x 91 cm/ EAI/XII hand signed
