The gallery has always represented the artist's work and has organized numerous Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibitions worldwide.
The Pez dispenser is highly symbolic, bearing the crown symbol, often used by Basquiat in his works, representing power and popular culture. The artwork revisits the Pez candy dispenser, ironically repurposing it to question consumer society and childhood memories.
Basquiat, a major figure of Neo-Expressionism, is known for his raw compositions blending text, images, and references to history, racism, and urban culture.
His artistic approach offered a poetic and critical perspective on inequality and Black American identity.
