Pineapple - A relief vase from the 1960s/70s upcycled into a table lamp. This extraordinary vase lamp combines an original Jasba ceramic vase from the 1970s with a handcrafted lampshade whose design seems tailor-made for this ceramic piece.
The vase belongs to Jasba's signature "pineapple" shapes. It owes its name to the three-dimensional relief that covers the entire body of the vase. In this color combination of muted green and vibrant red, however, the texture takes on a second association: The overlapping reliefs are strikingly reminiscent of fish scales.
The lampshade picks up on precisely this detail. It is covered with an exceptional cotton fabric on which fish, waves, aquatic plants, and tiny stars combine to create a richly detailed underwater world. The vibrant green of the print echoes the color of the ceramic, while the light background provides a beautiful contrast to the bright red of the vase's neck, handle, and base. A fine green rickrack trim finishes the shade and underscores its handcrafted character.
This creates a combination where the vase and fabric do more than simply match in color: The fish-scale relief of the ceramic is almost narratively continued in the lampshade's motif. Two distinct vintage and design elements merge into a new, self-contained object.
The lamp is cordless and can therefore be placed anywhere, independent of power outlets – on sideboards, side tables, windowsills, or the dining table, as well as on balconies or patios. The interplay of ceramic, fabric, and light is particularly striking in the evening.
The rechargeable LED bulb is charged via USB-C. Brightness and light color can be adjusted using the included remote control. In addition to various shades of white, colored lighting moods are also possible: Depending on the selected light color, the effect of the green and white shade changes surprisingly dramatically, revealing a completely new dimension to the lamp.
The vase has a repaired area on the upper rim, which has been professionally executed. You only notice it if you look very closely. Hence the slightly reduced price. The regular price would be €165.
Like all vase lamps, this unique piece was also crafted without drilling. The original Jasba vase remains undamaged, and the modification is completely reversible. The lamp base is weighted for added stability.
