Product description
A particularly refined, authentic Japanese sōsaku kokeshi by renowned artist Sato Kōson (佐藤光尊), dated August 15, 1978 (Shōwa 53).
This elegant wooden art doll is entirely hand-turned and hand-painted and features a poetic autumn motif of maple leaves (momiji), symbolizing transience and beauty in Japanese aesthetics.
The serene expression with closed eyes and slender figure are characteristic of the work of Kōson, a beloved name among international kokeshi collectors.
There are minor but no major detractors. Please keep in mind that the work is almost 50 years old, and be sure to view all photos to avoid disappointment.
