Jan Mankes 1889 - 1920 Original Woodcut Cowgirl 1927 Nicely framed. Dimensions Frame 32 h. x 23 w. cm. Dimensions Woodcut 21 h. x 16 w. cm. A great Dutch Master Artist who unfortunately only lived to be 31. His entire body of work, created between 1907 and 1918, includes about 150 paintings, mostly on small formats, about 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of prints, mostly etchings and woodcuts. Jan Mankes entered art history as "Holland's most tranquil painter." He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth surrounding his artistry.
