Jan Mankes 1889-1920 Complete Oeuvre book from 1923 in very nice condition. Bound edition of the monograph on the work of Jan Mankes. Written by his wife A. Mankes - Zernike and R.N. Ronald Holst. Complete with all plates. A great Dutch Master Artist who unfortunately only lived to be 31. His entire oeuvre, created between 1907 and 1918, includes about 150 paintings, mostly on small formats, about 100 drawings and over 40 sheets of prints, mostly etchings and woodcuts. Jan Mankes entered art history as "Holland's most tranquil painter." He died young of tuberculosis, something that contributed to the myth surrounding his artistry.
