James Rizzi: "Meets Spitzweg" Original licensed poster. High print quality and in excellent condition. Copyright: James Rizzi, New York, 1995.
This poster was designed by James Rizzi in 1995 for the benefit of the New Pinakothek in Munich. Carl Spitzweg was a well-known humorous romantic painter. The work "The Poor Poet" depicts a poor poet lying on a mattress in a nonetheless shabby attic room. Numerous details in this work tell the whole story of this poor poet. James Rizzi took this humor and replaced the umbrella with a "Rizzi umbrella" and also integrated his "CONEY ISLAND" can and a Rizzi book into the work.
