An exceptional Jaeger-LeCoultre Atmos, Calibre 528-8, presented in its iconic gilt-brass and glass case. The Atmos is one of the great achievements of Swiss horology. It runs from almost imperceptible changes in ambient temperature: a hermetically sealed bellows expands and contracts, providing the tiny amount of energy required to keep the movement running, without conventional winding or electrical power. This example houses the highly regarded Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 528-8 mechanical movement, beautifully visible through the open centre of the dial and four glass panels. The elegant white chapter ring features applied gilt Arabic numerals at 3, 6, 9 and 12, faceted gilt hour markers and slender hands. The exposed movement, large torsion balance and finely finished components make the Atmos as fascinating mechanically as it is decorative. The architectural case is executed in gilt brass with bevelled glass panels, allowing the mechanism to be admired from virtually every angle. An integrated spirit level allows correct positioning.
