Exceptional large illuminated Space Age mirror with six adjustable chrome eyeball lights, made in Italy during the 1970s. The striking composition combines a large rectangular mirror with a contrasting smoked mirrored surround and six sculptural chrome-plated spherical light fixtures. Three eyeball lights are arranged vertically along the upper side of the mirror, while three additional lights are positioned along the lower edge. Each spherical spotlight is individually adjustable, allowing the direction of the light to be changed. The mirrored surfaces multiply the chrome spheres visually, creating a dramatic play of light and reflection when illuminated. The combination of geometric architecture, smoked mirror, highly reflective chrome and spherical lighting is characteristic of the futuristic experimentation associated with Italian Space Age interiors of the 1970s. Both functional and highly sculptural, the mirror works beautifully as a statement vanity mirror, dressing mirror, illuminated wall mirror or decorative focal point. The chrome-plated metal elements have been carefully repolished and the electrical system has been renewed while preserving the original vintage character. Minor signs of use and age remain and are visible in the photographs. Italy, circa 1970s. Materials: Mirror, smoked mirror and chrome-plated metal.
