This Italian umbrella stand from the 1950s boasts a striking, sculptural form strongly reminiscent of Mid-Century Modern design. The conical structure is composed of numerous slender, black-lacquered metal rods that fan out upwards.
The individual rods are connected at the top by a brass-colored ring, which features twelve outward-curving hooks – ideal for hanging umbrellas or walking sticks. The upper section is also rotatable. A central brass element further stabilizes the connection and serves as a decorative accent in the center of the structure.
The base consists of a solid, brass-anodized aluminum ring that acts as a drip tray. The base shows signs of use, underscoring its authentic age. The stand's design combines functionality with elegance – particularly through the interplay of black and gold, which lends the piece a sophisticated yet contemporary look.
Condition: The umbrella stand is in well-maintained vintage condition with age-appropriate signs of wear. The black metal rods show a few small chips in the paint, the brass elements have a light patina and noticeable oxidation at the base, which, however, contributes to its charming appearance and authentic mid-century character. The construction is stable and fully functional.
