Richly carved Renaissance chest in walnut wood with figurative reliefs and ornamental tendrils. The lid features a central figure in a cartouche, surrounded by volutes and Renaissance ornamentation. The front also features a carved figurative representation. Remnants of the original gilding are still visible in the decorative elements.
Standing on characteristic claw feet. The interior features a three-part compartment division, originally used as a tea or document chest.
Provenance: Hailstone collection (1891).
Condition: General signs of age and use consistent with its age. Wear to the gilding and polychromy. Interior used. Small loose ornament/part present and included.
