The Luminator stands among the most iconic designs in the early history of FontanaArte. Pietro Chiesa created the lamp in 1933, shortly after joining the company founded by Gio Ponti. Its radical simplicity – a slender metal tube ending in a conical uplighter – established the Luminator as an archetype of modernist lighting.
The present example is a later reissue in satin nickel, featuring a hammered reflector and modern floor dimmer. Produced from the 1980s onwards, these editions demonstrate the timeless quality of Chiesa’s concept: nearly ninety years on, the design still feels contemporary.
