Italian wall plaque of polished glass, signed "Pachini"
Italy, mid to late 20th century
Rectangular decorative plaque of polished flat glass, painted on the back with enamel and metallic pigments, depicting a stylized female profile with wavy green hair. The composition combines the elegance of an Art Deco revival with influences of mid-century fashion illustrations, against a background of rich texture in shades of gold, bronze, crimson and green.
Executed in the sotto vetro technique (painted on the back), with all details applied to the back of the glass, then sealed and resin/fiber coated for protection. Vertically signed "Pachini" at the edge. Features a hanging wire on the back for wall mounting.
Dimensions: approx. 35.5 × 59.5 cm; glass thickness 4 mm
Condition: Very good, slight signs of use appropriate to its age; intact paint layers and vibrant colors. Provenance: Private collection, Belgium
A striking example of Italian decorative glassware from the 1960s-80s, with its characteristic use of metallic enamel, stylized figurative motifs and export-oriented decorative designs of the era.
