This impressive and exceptionally heavy copper/brass lantern lamp comes from a historic townhouse on Museumplein in Amsterdam, an area known for its stately architecture and luxurious interior finishes. It is a particularly large and richly detailed piece, crafted in warm gold-colored copper/brass with six faceted glass panels that reflect light beautifully.
The lantern has a generous body, approximately 85 cm high and 40 cm wide, making it one of the larger and more luxurious models of its time. Including the original brass chain and ceiling rose, the lamp has a generous total height of over 2.00 to 2.50 meters, perfect for a high entrance, stairwell, mezzanine, or spacious hallway.
The length can, of course, be adjusted by shortening the chain.
The decorative upper structure, with its graceful volute-shaped arms and finely cast details, emphasizes the craftsmanship of the period and gives the lamp an almost architectural presence.
Inside, multiple candle-shaped sockets combine with the clear faceted glass panels to create an even, warm light distribution. The gold hue of the brass enhances the classic, almost ceremonial lighting so typical of early 20th-century entrance lighting in large city villas.
Condition
The lantern is in excellent and fully functional condition. The copper/brass has a beautiful, deep sheen, the glass panels are clear and undamaged, and all components are present.
The lamp is ready to hang and use.
