FASE:
Industrias FASE (Fabricaciones Seriadas) was a Spanish company founded in 1964 by two partners in Torrejón de Ardoz (Madrid). The founders were Pedro Martín García, a woodturner who sold his own lamps at a Madrid flea market, and Luis Pérez de la Oliva, a designer. The company primarily manufactured lamps, but also produced some office supplies such as wastepaper baskets, umbrella stands, coat racks, and ashtrays.
Their designs were inspired by contemporary Italian designers such as Ingo Maurer, Joe Colombo, and Angelo Brotto. They created pieces of similar, or even superior, quality to their Italian counterparts, but at a much more affordable price. From design to manufacturing, everything was entirely Spanish.
The success of these lamps lies in the combination of materials: metal, wood, and chrome, as well as their bold color palette and articulated mechanism. All these elements give FASE lamps a futuristic, sleek, and beautiful design, while ensuring their functionality.
1960s
The first FASE models featured groundbreaking designs. These lamps, decidedly modern for their time, offered an original combination of metal, wood, and chrome, available in a magnificent palette of vibrant colors.
One of their most remarkable features was their ability to move thanks to a sophisticated spherical articulation system, designed by FASE's first designers. The head is articulated, and the base pivots on an axis. Its distinctive glass diffuser also became a hallmark of the Spanish company.
The most iconic models from this era are: Boomerang 64, Boomerang 2000, 520, Faro, and President.
