Large Gien faience serving/presentation tray dating from the early days of the famous Kashmir pattern, stamped on the base 1875-1876, likely used until around 1880-1885. Elegant polylobed shape with wide, raised handles and a rich blue transfer decoration entirely hand-embellished with red, green, and yellow. The abundant floral motif frames a prominent central Kashmir pattern in the Orientalist style. This is one of the earliest examples of this iconic model, reissued by the Gien factory during the 20th century.
Maximum length 52cm including handles, maximum width 37.5cm, height 4cm. In very good overall condition for its age, with fine natural crazing of the glaze, a light burnished patina mainly on one side, and some minor signs of age. Three minor manufacturing flaws should be noted: a small area of enamel near one handle and two discreet firing cracks located in the fold of two lobes. Approximately 2-3 kg.
