Rörberg Armchair by IKEA (2009) – Design by Ulf Quensel
Rare design classics from IKEA's now almost unavailable Rörberg series. The striking combination of a white lacquered steel frame and a vibrant orange cotton cover gives the armchairs their distinctive space-age and lounge character.
With their soft, almost floating forms and clean steel frames, the modules are reminiscent of futuristic interior designs from the 1960s and 70s – interpreted in the typical Scandinavian style of the late 2000s.
The strong contrast between the bold color scheme, the low proportions, and the minimalist steel frame is what makes the series so special today. The modules appear both playful and modern, making a real statement in any room.
The elements can be used flexibly: either as two individual lounge chairs or combined to create an exceptional two-seater sofa. Due to their rare availability and unique design, the Rörberg modules are now true collector's items and are very hard to find.
The seat frame is made of solid wood. The upholstery has been freshly washed. There are some minor signs of wear consistent with age, as well as small scratches on the frame. The original buttons on one backrest have been replaced (see photos). Overall, it is in beautiful and well-maintained condition with a wonderful presence.
Dimensions per module:
• Width: 72 cm
• Depth: 86 cm
• Height: 78 cm
Perfect for design enthusiasts, collectors, or as an exceptional statement piece with rare value.
