Product description
A beautiful glass drinking cup "Flora" with floral and botanical relief designed by the Finnish designer Oiva Toikka (1931-2019) for Nuutajärvi and Iittala.
After training as a ceramic designer, he worked from 1956 to 1959 at Arabia in Helsinki. In 1963 he became chief designer at the glassware factory Iittala in Nuutajärvi. From 1973 he designed a famous series of glass birds Birds by Toikka for this design company, which have become sought-after collectors' items. His style is known for being bold and colorful. He himself described his work as "baroque", because one of the original meanings of this word is "a different pearl".
In 1992, Toikka won the Kaj Franck Design Prize, named after his famous fellow designer Kaj Franck.
