HONEY BLOCKS – fudgy fusion
-ORIGIN AND INSPIRATION-
Honey Blocks originates from a modular wall unit by 'Hartman Meubelen' from the 1980s. The thick oak fronts, rounded shapes, and beveled surfaces inspired a new design with a soft, organic feel.
-DESIGN AND STRUCTURE-
The idea of 'loose panels' quickly became the starting point.
To achieve a balanced design, I chose to place four identical doors next to each other, creating a clear rhythm.
By allowing air and shadow lines throughout, nothing appears visually connected, giving the furniture structure and layering.
The doors are rotated and mirrored, creating a strong graphic element.
The legs were also designed based on this principle: shapes with the same rounded panel structure that support the piece of furniture without weighing it down.
The side panels and the top are made from an old oak dining table. The top appears to be a separate panel within the whole, reinforcing the sense that each component has its own role.
- FINISH AND CHARACTER -
All the oak components have been restored with different pigments to a single, warm, deep hue. The color is reminiscent of honey and caramel and gives the piece a natural look.
The result is a one-of-a-kind piece of furniture, chunky and soft, like a good block of caramel fudge. Honey Blocks blends organically into your interior while simultaneously retaining its own strong character.

I work with what already exists. I only use new materials when absolutely necessary.
For HONEY BLOCKS, that came down to a handful of screws and caps, wood glue, edge veneer, some pigment, and hardwax oil.
- CONDITION -
HONEY BLOCKS is in excellent condition and has been finished with a durable hardwax oil.
The materials used show only elegant, subtle signs of wear.
