A Hague School sideboard in beautiful condition, featuring a hidden cutlery drawer and the original sliding windows.
A bargain for a private seller, with sufficient margin for a dealer.
The cabinet bears a strong resemblance to designs by P.E.L. Izeren of Genneper Mill. (Unfortunately, no markings.) He used a lot of oak, finished with more expensive types of wood.
This cabinet also features solid Coromandel door knobs, and the 'frame' of the sliding windows is entirely made of solid Coromandel. A type of wood that was already rare and very expensive in the 1920s. Nowadays, it is not even allowed to be felled.
Stripped of countless layers of old wax and subsequently treated with a protective antique wax.
The upper cabinet section comes with the original lock and a matching/working key. The lower cabinet section is missing the lock, but a click system has been installed to keep the cabinet closed.
A small piece of veneer is missing from the back right of the cabinet plinth. This has been painted black by a previous owner so that it is barely noticeable.
This beautiful piece of furniture is ready for immediate use and completely free of woodworm (holes).
