Product description
This is the 'Homage to Melopee', a unique sculpture by the artist from 2022. The work is inspired by the famous poem 'Melopee' by Paul van Ostaijen and translates the poetic atmosphere into a tangible, three-dimensional object. The sculpture is crafted from an artisan-forged iron plate from which organic forms have been cut. These recesses are filled with two-centimeter-thick, mass-colored artisan cast glass (Albertini), which has been hand-cut. The iron is coated, resulting in a deep black-brown color with a subtle sheen. The combination of the robust metal and the clear blue and yellow glass creates a strong visual contrast. This is a unique, signed piece in excellent condition. The materials and techniques used have been carefully chosen and contribute to the layering of the artwork. The finish demonstrates the maker's craftsmanship, and the original state has been fully preserved. This sculpture comes into its own particularly well in a modern or eclectic interior, where light can play through the glass. It is a striking work of art that deserves a prominent place on both a sideboard and in a display cabinet.
