Vintage highboard designed by Alfred Hendrickx in the 1950s. This tall sideboard with a refined finish was manufactured by the Belgian furniture company Belform.
This model is a fine example of Belgian modernism, in which sleek Scandinavian design is combined with high-quality materials and exceptional craftsmanship.
The cabinet is finished in warm Afrormosia veneer (African teak) and rests on the characteristic black lacquered beech wood base. The combination of the warm wood, the white sliding panels, and the black accents gives the piece of furniture a timeless and architectural appearance that still looks surprisingly modern today.
The sliding door layout offers ample storage space, while the elegant proportions ensure that the furniture remains light and refined.
This type of highboard is one of the less common Belform versions and is considerably rarer than the classic models with solid wooden doors. It is in (very) beautiful vintage condition with only minor signs of use here and there. This mainly consists of a light water stain from glasses on some shelves and a small amount of damage to the varnish at the top that is not really noticeable (see photo).
Alfred Hendrickx managed to create his own style. Although his designs contain Scandinavian influences, they appear somewhat more architectural.
