This set of four Herman Miller La Fonda armchairs, designed by Charles and Ray Eames, is an iconic piece of design history. The chairs were originally designed in 1961 at the request of Alexander Girard for his new restaurant, La Fonda Del Sol, in Manhattan, giving this set a special provenance.
The chairs feature a fiberglass shell upholstered in a woven blue fabric and rest on a distinctive cast aluminum base. The combination of the organic shape of the shell and the clean lines of the base creates a timeless silhouette. The original Herman Miller sticker is still present on the underside of the shell.
The set is in good vintage condition, with an authentic patina befitting its age and use. The chairs are structurally intact and retain their original character.
These La Fonda chairs are a perfect addition to a Mid-Century Modern interior. They look stunning around a dining table or as striking accent chairs in a living room or office space. Purchased a few years ago and reupholstered with the original fabric (found in the US) in 2 different colors.
