Satin porcelain with crystalline Goldfeuer surface
A rare and cohesive Rosenthal Studio-Line trio from the mid-1980s, comprising:
• Bowl – Model 2276/14 (1986)
• Vase – Model 3775/14 (1987)
• Vase – Model 3775/22 (1986)
Designed by Helmut Drexler, with Rosemonde Nairac contributing to the sculptural vase forms, this ensemble represents Rosenthal’s late-modern shift from graphic Op-Art decor toward material-driven surface experimentation.
The Goldfeuer Surface
“Goldfeuer” is among Rosenthal’s most sophisticated 1980s finishes — a satin porcelain glaze with crystalline, mineral-like patterning that recalls oxidized metal, volcanic crust, or frost over gilded stone.
The surface is neither purely metallic nor purely matte. Instead, it carries a subtle alchemical depth: warm golden tones emerging through a granular, textured matrix. Under changing light, the pieces oscillate between restraint and radiance.
Unlike the bold 1960s Studio-Line graphics, Goldfeuer is atmospheric and tactile — a study in surface rather than line.
Form & Composition
The tall vase (3775/22) introduces vertical emphasis.
The smaller vase (3775/14) repeats the disc-and-neck geometry in a more compact proportion.
The bowl (2276/14) grounds the composition horizontally, revealing the glaze’s interior depth.
Together, they form a sculptural dialogue of circle, cylinder, and plane — unmistakably architectural in spirit.

Collector’s Perspective
Goldfeuer pieces are significantly less common than Rosenthal’s earlier graphic decors and represent a quieter, more refined late-modern Studio-Line phase.
This trio offers:
• A complete material statement
• Rare cohesive grouping
• Strong architectural presence
• Subtle metallic-mineral finish
• Authentic mid-1980s Rosenthal production
An intelligent acquisition for collectors of late 20th-century German porcelain and Studio-Line minimalism.
