For sale: Large Hayno Focken (*1905, Lahr / Black Forest) brass watering can/cactus jug. Very good condition with a distinct patina, especially below the spout, and likely repaired at some point; otherwise, wonderfully preserved in its original state and decorated with Focken's typical circular ornamentation – almost resembling air bubbles. Dimensions: ~ H 20 cm x Ø 20 cm. "It is always evident in his works that Hayno Focken was a student at Burg Giebichenstein University of Art and Design in Halle. Compared to the works of his teacher Karl Müller, a related predilection for large organic forms, a similar style of surface treatment of the brassware, and the same adherence to the principles of craftsmanship are apparent. Focken even created his artist's mark based on the simple, square Burg Giebichenstein mark. He is by no means one of those students who merely imitate a model they have found, but rather developed into one of those important artists who, as early as the 1930s, already incorporated many aspects of the style of..."
