Description:
Hartmut Lohmeyer was a German architect and designer. At the beginning of his career, Lohmeyer studied architecture at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. One of his professors there was Egon Eiermann. Afterwards, Hartmut Lohmeyer worked as a freelance architect and designer. He also taught for a time at Alexandria University in Cairo.
As a designer, he is best known today for his designs for the German manufacturer Wilhelmshaven. This includes the dining table offered here, dating from the 1950s. A particularly striking design feature of this piece is the use of contrasting teak and oak. In contrast to the dark teak tabletop, the lower part of the table is made of light oak. The rounded corners on all sides and the tapered legs are also aesthetically pleasing. It is no exaggeration to call this design a masterpiece!
The tabletop shows moderate signs of wear.
