Two sculptural Rosenthal Studio-Line vases in the rare “Goldfeuer Lamina Grün” décor — a richly layered green and gold surface developed during Rosenthal’s late-modern experimental phase.
The taller example is executed in the classic Hans Wohlrab form (originally designed in 1955), model 2698, here reinterpreted in Drexler’s Goldfeuer Lamina finish. The second vase presents a slimmer cylindrical proportion in the same décor, creating a harmonious vertical dialogue.
Form & Designers
Hans Wohlrab’s 1950s form language is characterized by architectural restraint and pure geometry — cylindrical clarity, calm proportions, and structural balance.
Helmut Drexler’s Goldfeuer Lamina décor overlays this disciplined form with a dramatically material surface. The result is a compelling tension between rational structure and alchemical glaze.
The “Goldfeuer Lamina Grün” Surface
Unlike the lighter crystalline Goldfeuer finish, the Lamina Grün version carries deep green undertones beneath molten gold patterning.
The surface appears almost metallic — reminiscent of oxidized bronze, patinated copper, or mineral deposits across stone. The gold network is not graphic but organic, spreading in irregular laminar formations across the satin porcelain body.
Under light, the glaze shifts between:
• deep green
• bronze-brown
• luminous gold
• subtle iridescent undertones
It is one of Rosenthal’s more atmospheric and less commonly encountered Studio-Line finishes.
