This unique large rug is a completely new product that has been handwoven in a traditional manner. (One of a kind, not multiple pieces woven!)
The detail photo clearly shows how the special dyeing of the wool creates a mottled color effect.

A Röllakan is a handwoven carpet with a cotton warp and a wool weft. Röllakans usually feature geometric and traditional patterns. These rugs are known for their flat and dense weave pattern, making them ideal for high-traffic areas. Röllakans are double-sided, which extends their lifespan. In the past, people would save one side of the carpet for special occasions and keep the other side up for daily use.
Röllakans are easy to maintain because wool is naturally dirt-repellent. Furthermore, wool also has the fine property of being heat-insulating. Wonderfully comfortable. The origin of the word ‘röllakan’ lies in the Old Swedish word ‘rygglakan’ (a type of “back sheet”).
These hand-woven rugs were hung on the walls of Swedish houses and huts to keep the cold wind out.
A Röllakan is a completely handmade product that cannot be manufactured industrially. A weaver takes about 8 hours to make 1 m².
