Mexican Barro Negro Rooster Flute – Deep Sound & Maker's Mark
Handmade Mexican Clay Flute Rooster – Vintage Folk Art from Oaxaca
A beautiful, authentic Mexican folk art flute in the shape of a rooster. This vintage item likely dates from the 1970s/80s and is handmade from the famous dark clay from the Oaxaca region (San Bartolo Coyotepec).
On the underside, right next to the flute mouth, the original artisanal family stamp is pressed into the clay. This confirms the authenticity of this traditional workshop.
Unlike many purely decorative souvenirs, this instrument functions perfectly. The flute has a remarkably deep, warm, and mystical sound thanks to the large resonance chamber.
The flute is in good vintage condition with a beautiful, rustic appearance. There is a slight superficial shrinkage crack running along the back (caused during the firing process in Mexico). This has absolutely no effect on the deep sound or the airtightness of the flute. A unique collector's item for lovers of ethnic musical instruments, pre-Columbian culture, or distinctive Mexican folk art (Barro Negro).
