Product description
Hand-turned vase, decorated via the sgraffito technique in which the hand-cut geometric figures were finished with a blue glazed finish. The vase further has an alternating blue and beige matte glaze and a brown engobe all around. The inside of the vase is glazed blue, similar to that of the geometric figures. The design and execution is by Frans Tuinstra in his own workshop. Frans Tuinstra is best known for his beautiful ceramic facade decorations, mainly in and around his hometown of Maastricht. http://www.capriolus.nl/nl/content/tuinstra-Frans Height approx. 14 cm, diameter approx. 12 cm. In very good vintage condition, no chips, hairlines or damage visible. Hand marked Frans Tuinstra, Neercanne, 1960. Frans Tuinstra's vases have increased in value enormously in a few years. Whereas a few years ago these works were offered for prices around €200,-, at the moment the price, even for smaller and younger specimens, is around €450,- which makes the offered particularly beautiful specimen a unique opportunity for lovers of Dutch ceramics from the 1960's to embellish their interior with a work by this artist.
