This Orthodox icon depicts Christ Pantocrator, one of the most emblematic figures of Eastern sacred art. Hand-painted on a wooden panel, it follows the traditional codes of Byzantine iconography: Christ blessing with his right hand, holding the Book of Gospels in his left, against a gilded background enhanced with red-painted Greek inscriptions. The piece displays a beautiful patina acquired over time. The signs of wear, small losses of material, and visible abrasions attest to its history and its use as an object of devotion. Far from being flaws, they fully contribute to its authenticity and character. The reverse of the panel, darkened and patinated, features an engraved or painted scene, discreet but present, suggesting a re-use or dual purpose for the support. The panel measures approximately 15 cm in height by 10 cm in width.
