Hand-knotted Persian rug - Kordi Ghochan No. 2551
The Kordi Ghochan rug originates from the north-east of Iran, more precisely from the province of Khorasan. This region is known for its nomadic and tribal culture, from which the Kordi rugs originate.
Characteristics:
Origin: Ghochan (north-east Iran, Khorasan)
Knot type: Persian (asymmetrical) knot, purely handmade
Material: High-quality virgin wool, often knotted on cotton warp
Colors: Traditional strong natural colors - red, blue, beige, brown
Patterns: Tribal and geometric ornaments, often with medallions, diamonds and hook motifs. Repeated small patterns (all-over designs) are also characteristic.
Pile: Medium-high, dense and hard-wearing
Quality: Robust and durable, ideal for living spaces, but also collectible due to its ethnic origin
Special features:
Kordi nomad rugs are rarer than classic Persian rugs such as Nain, Isfahan or Kashan. They combine perfect craftsmanship with rustic charm and reflect the culture and tradition of the Kurdish tribes in Khorasan.
