Pièce unique - Wrought-iron mirror with stylized palm motif
Atelier creation based on two distinct elements: the "needles" constituting the palms are old parts of an extremely ancient "carding bench" from the rural Aveyron region. Dating from the last century or even earlier, it was used to card fibers such as wool or hemp.
The texture that time has given to these relics is inimitable: the forging work of another era shines through, and we are struck by its deep texture, which is highlighted and preserved here.
The mirror, from the same place, is a "Syla", a more contemporary object from the 70s, made in France, an old bathroom classic. This time too, time has done its work, subtly altering its sheen, leaving vaporous traces that can only be seen in certain reflections, giving it all its charm and life.
The work on the texture of the palm leaves was intended to preserve and enhance the iron, revealing a texture as dense as the history it carries.
Enhanced by gilding, also old and from the same place, this one comes from a kit from Manufrance, the famous "Manufacture Française d'armes et cycles", an industrial colossus of the post-war years, pioneer in its time of mail-order sales.
The patina is deep, textured and heat-waxed for an incomparable finish.
