Ystad-Metall Candlestick – Wrought iron with orange and green glass, Sweden 1960s
A rare original of Swedish Modernism, marked “Ystad-Metall – Made in Sweden” (stamped on the base). Three-light candelabra made of black lacquered, hand-forged iron: a strict cross shape, softened by hand-bent volutes, with five inset glass lenses.
What makes this piece special: Ystad-Metall candlesticks of this period are almost exclusively monochromatic in amber tones. This version combines four vibrant orange lenses with an emerald green center – a color scheme rarely seen. In candlelight, the glass resembles small church windows.
Ystad-Metall is one of the most important Swedish metal workshops of the post-war period; the iron and glass candlesticks in this series are attributed to the company's designer, Gunnar Ander.

Condition
Very good, original vintage condition. Glass without cracks or chips, all elements secure, base stable. Unrestored, unpainted – original patina.
Note on symmetry:
The right candle arm sits slightly lower than the left, meaning it is not exactly on a 180° line. The deviation is minor, barely noticeable when the candle holder is set up, and does not affect stability or function – the candles stand securely and straight. Slight asymmetries are typical of hand-forged pieces from this period. I am mentioning this explicitly to avoid any surprises.
From the same collection: Another original Ystad metal candlestick (4-light, amber glass) is also listed in my profile – ideal as a pair.
