Product description
A beautiful and atmospheric antique English wine table in the classic Georgian style. This piece of furniture dates from the late Victorian period (approx. 1880–1900, around 130 years old). This is a high-quality, handcrafted piece, not a 1970s reproduction. The unique feature of this table, particularly the tabletop—which is rarely found anymore—is the "cable edge" or "Pie Crust edge" of the top (the indentation of the pastry edge of a pie/tart). This is commonly found in English furniture. The tabletop is made of solid mahogany and is completely authentic (slightly oval due to the natural movement of the old wood), fully assembled with traditional dovetail joints and a central wooden dowel, without visible modern screws. It is possible that the top was crafted from a single piece of mahogany, consisting of one or two sections. The lacquer has a deep, warm sheen, is somewhat darker on top, and shows signs of use over the years (scratches, dents, scuff marks). Dimensions (always approx.): Tabletop diameter: 35.2 cm - 35.5 cm. Height: 51 cm. Width (measured leg spacing): 38 cm diameter. 'Grandma Chic' is back in style! It is therefore delivered including the matching vintage crocheted doily and the custom-made glass protective plate, which has protected the precious wood from rings all these years.
